# Introduction

The Resova API, is a [REST](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Representational_state_transfer)ful API that uses HTTP requests to GET (retrieve), PUT (update), POST (create) and DELETE (destroy) data.

The API accepts [form-encoded](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/POST_\(HTTP\)#Use_for_submitting_web_forms) request bodies and will return [JSON-encoded](http://www.json.org/) responses, as well as standard HTTP response codes.
